Third Precinct

Welcome to the Suffolk County PD Third Precinct website. Members of the Third Precinct provide police services to visitors and residents in the hamlets of Bay Shore, Baywood, Brentwood, Brightwaters, Islip, Central Islip, East Islip, West Islip, and Islip Terrace. Our COPE officers, Community Liaison Officer, and Community Support Unit address a variety of quality of life concerns such as complaints of illegal activity, disturbances and traffic problems. A partnership between the Police Department and community members is essential to improve conditions and keep our communities safe so please get involved. 2024 Community Meeting Schedule


The precinct COPE units are tasked with addressing various issues of concern to the community, including traffic complaints and quality of life issues. COPE officers meet regularly with community groups and they provide a number of public safety oriented community presentations.


The Precinct Crime Section is responsible for investigating most misdemeanor and violation offenses along with Domestic Incident complaints that occur within the confines of the precinct. Certain misdemeanor and violation offenses are investigated by the precinct’s detective squads.


Hello, my name is Peter Rivera and I am the Community Liaison Officer for the 3rd Precinct. I am here to address issues and concerns within your community and look forward to collaborating with you to enhance the relationship between the SCPD and the communities we serve. The Third Precinct currently has two SPANISH SPEAKING Police Operations Aides available Mondays-Fridays who provide free language assistance. If a POA is unavailable, free over-the-phone interpretations is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
