Fifth Precinct

The 5th Precinct renders patrol and other police service to the southern portion of Brookhaven Town, the eastern portion of Islip Town, and the incorporated villages of Patchogue and Bellport.The 5th Precinct hosts an open community meeting the 2nd Tuesday of every month (with the exceptions of July and August). The purpose of the meeting is to inform attendees of the happenings within your police department and to discuss recent events, trends, and / or issues within your community.For a list of upcoming meeting dates, please click here Community Meeting Schedule.

The 5th Precinct COPE Unit is tasked with addressing various community concerns, including traffic complaints and quality of life issues.The 5th Precinct Community Liaison Officer (CLO) is assigned to the Community Relations Bureau and works in conjunction with the COPE Unit to address community concerns. COPE officers and the CLO regularly communicate with local community groups and attend local community meetings to spread public safety news and messages.Additionally, the COPE Unit maintains and updates Twitter and NIXlE messaging systems, where news, announcements and alerts are often posted. The department also offers anonymous tip hotlines, in partnership with Suffolk County Crimestoppers.If you are aware of drug dealing in your neighborhood, please report it to (631) 852-NARC; you can remain anonymous and receive cash rewards for tips that lead to arrests. 2024 Community Meeting Schedule

COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICE ENFORCEMENT (COPE) UNIT

The precinct COPE units are tasked with addressing various issues of concern to the community, including traffic complaints and quality of life issues. COPE officers meet regularly with community groups and they provide a number of public safety oriented community presentations.

PRECINCT CRIME SECTION (PCS)

The Precinct Crime Section is responsible for investigating most misdemeanor and violation offenses along with Domestic Incident complaints that occur within the confines of the precinct. Certain misdemeanor and violation offenses are investigated by the precinct’s detective squads.

COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER (CLO)

Hello, my name is Vincent Maio and I am the Community Liaison Officer for the 5th Precinct. I am here to address issues and concerns within your community and look forward to collaborating with you to enhance the relationship between the SCPD and the communities we serve. POLICE OPERATIONS AIDE (POA)

The Fifth Precinct currently has one SPANISH SPEAKING Police Operations Aide available Mondays-Fridays who provide free language assistance. If a POA is unavailable, free over-the-phone interpretations is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
