Domestic Violence is any offense of a violent nature attempted or committed against a current or former family or household member. The Suffolk County Police Department is committed to investigating all reported domestic incidents and to providing assistance to victims of Domestic Violence. The Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Bureau of the Suffolk County Police Department conducts confidential investigations involving domestic violence and elder abuse, and acts as a liaison to the courts, outside agencies and governmental entities. The Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Bureau also provides outreach to victims of domestic violence and raises community awareness through education regarding family violence issues.
