On March 16th, 2022 the Suffolk County Police Department Applicant Investigation Section will send, via US mail and email, invitations and important documents related to upcoming police candidate orientations. These invitations will be sent to candidates on the Open Competitive Police Officer list who received a score of 95 with a lottery number between 1751 and 2000. Some candidates who were previously invited to the police candidate orientation may be ineligible to be invited again. Those candidates who submitted a Temporary Declination prior to or post the candidate orientations held this past March 5th and March 6th, are not eligible to be invited to this orientation session. If you believe you did not receive an invite but should have, contact the Applicant Investigation Section at 631-852-6203.

Welcome to the Suffolk County Police Applicant Investigation Section page.

Contained on this page, police officer candidates or applicants will find important links and documents that they can use to find answers to commonly asked questions. They can also find information that may assist them in navigating the police background and testing process.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: The Applicant Investigation Section uses e-mail and regular first class U.S. mail service to correspond with police officer candidates. A large majority of these correspondences are time sensitive. It is recommended that candidates and applicants regularly check both their e-mail and mail box for such correspondence. Also, it is IMPERATIVE that police officer candidates promptly advise both Suffolk County Civil Service and the Applicant Investigation Section of all address changes or changes to your primary e-mail address. Failure to do so could result in a police officer candidate or applicant to miss important correspondence or information.

If you are unable to find the information you were looking for on this page, please contact the Applicant Investigation Section directly at 631-852-6203.
