The Suffolk County Police Department Applicant Investigation Section sent, via US mail and email, invitations and important documents related to upcoming police candidate orientations. These invitations were sent to candidates on the Open Competitive Police Officer list who received a score of 95 with a lottery number down to 2800. Additionally, those candidates on the Spanish Speaker Police Officer list who received a score of 90 with a lottery number down to 400 were also sent an invitation. Some candidates who were previously invited to the police candidate orientations may be ineligible to be invited again. If you believe you did not receive an invitation, but should have, contact the Applicant Investigation Section at 631-852-6203.

Welcome to the Suffolk County Police Applicant Investigation Section page.

Contained on this page, police officer candidates or applicants will find important links and documents that they can use to find answers to commonly asked questions. They can also find information that may assist them in navigating the police background and testing process.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: The Applicant Investigation Section uses e-mail and regular first class U.S. mail service to correspond with police officer candidates. A large majority of these correspondences are time sensitive. It is recommended that candidates and applicants regularly check both their e-mail and mail box for such correspondence. Also, it is IMPERATIVE that police officer candidates promptly advise both Suffolk County Civil Service and the Applicant Investigation Section of all address changes or changes to your primary e-mail address. Failure to do so could result in a police officer candidate or applicant to miss important correspondence or information.

If you are unable to find the information you were looking for on this page, please contact the Applicant Investigation Section directly at 631-852-6203.
