Inspector Mamay began his career with the Suffolk County Police Department in 1995.Upon graduating from the academy, he was assigned to the 2nd PCT where he worked in Patrol and COPE.In 2003 he was promoted to Sergeant.He worked as a Patrol Sergeant in the 1st and 2nd Precincts, and also as a COPE Sergeant and Crime Section Sergeant in the 2nd Pct.In 2010 he was assigned to the Medical Evaluation Unit as the Commanding Officer, and in 2011 was assigned to the Applicant Investigation Unit as Commanding Officer.In 2016 he was promoted to Lieutenant, and assigned to a patrol squad in the 1st Precinct.In 2017 he became the Commanding Officer of the 1st Precinct Crime Section.In 2020 he was designated Detective Lieutenant and assigned to the 5th Precinct Detective Squad as Commanding Officer.In 2021 he was promoted to Captain and assigned to the Office of the Chief of Department as District Commander.In 2022 he was promoted to Deputy Inspector and assigned to the Office of the Chief of Detectives as Commanding Officer of the Precinct Detective Bureau.Also in 2022 he took on additional duties as Commanding Officer of the Organized Crime Bureau.In 2023 he was assigned to the Marine Bureau as Commanding Officer.In March of 2025 he was promoted to Inspector and transferred to the 6th Precinct, where he is currently the Commanding Officer.He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany.
