Man Arrested for Engaging in Illegal Street Contest

Suffolk County Police yesterday arrested a man who engaged in an illegal street contest in August in Port Jefferson.

Two vehicles were observed performing donuts and burnouts at the intersection of West Broadway and Main Street before speeding away on August 26 at approximately 10:50 p.m.

Following an investigation by the Sixth Precinct Investigative Unit in conjunction with the Street Takeover Task Force, Adam Tuzza was identified as one of the drivers. He was located while in his vehicle on Nesconset Highway in Terryville and taken into custody by members of the task force on Saturday, September 14 at approximately 9:25 p.m.

Tuzza, 20, of 12 James Way, Middle Island, was charged Unlawful Speed Contest/Side Show and Reckless Endangerment. His vehicle, a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria, was seized. Tuzza will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
