Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured an e-bike operator in Lake Grove this afternoon.

Diane Staudacher was driving a 2017 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on Burr Lane and attempted to make a lefthand turn onto northbound Moriches Road when the vehicle collided with a 2025 Surro e-bike that was traveling westbound on Burr Lane at 1:45 p.m.

The operator, Nicholas Florio, 23, of Deer Park, was ejected from the e-bike. He was transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries. Staudacher, 79, of Port Jefferson Station, was transported to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
