Teenage E-Bike Rider Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a teenage electric bicycle rider last night in Lake Ronkonkoma.

Travis Wertovitch was riding an electric bicycle northbound on Hawkins Avenue when he was struck by a southbound 2012 white Ford Fusion as it turned left onto School Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. The Ford fled the scene traveling eastbound on School Street.

Wertovitch, 13, of Ronkonkoma, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
