Update- Two People Seriously Injured in Shooting

Suffolk County Police today arrested a teen for a shooting that seriously injured two people in Central Islip in June.

Following an investigation, Third Squad detectives arrested a 15-year-old male for shooting two people at the Hawthorne Living Apartment Complex on June 19.

The juvenile was charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. He is scheduled for arraignment today at First District Court in Central Islip.

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that seriously injured two people in Central Islip yesterday.

Two groups of people were near the pool at Hawthorne Living, located at 211 Hawthorne Ave., when they had a dispute that turned physical between two people. Someone in the group fired several shots striking a 16-year-old involved in the physical altercation and a bystander at 4:30 p.m. Two parked vehicles and an apartment door were also struck. The groups dispersed prior to police arrival.

The 16-year-old male was transported in serious condition to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and the 25-year-old female bystander was transported in serious condition to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore.
