Suffolk County Police today arrested a woman for assaulting a teenager, who was in an altercation with her daughter at Brentwood High School this morning.
A 14-year-old female was exiting the school, when she and a 15-year-old female began exchanging words at approximately 11 a.m. The mother of the 15-year-old, Toni Monroe, struck the 14-year-old multiple times with a metal water bottle. A security guard broke up the altercation and Monroe was arrested in the parking lot a short time later.
The student, whose name is being withheld, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-lifethreatening injuries.
Monroe, 35, was charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She is being held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 13.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
