Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash

Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at approximately 9 a.m.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Saint James.

Harold Day was walking northbound on Lake Avenue at the intersection of Railroad Avenue when he was struck by a 2010 Dodge Ram that was traveling southbound on Lake Avenue and attempting to turn onto the eastbound lanes of Railroad Avenue at approximately 9 a.m.

Day, 73, of Saint James, was transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries. The driver of the Dodge, Michael Kaminicki, 52, of Saint James, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
