E-Bike Rider Arrested for DWI Following Motor Vehicle Crash Involving Serious Injuries

Sunday, August 3, 2025 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Suffolk County Police have arrested an E-bike rider following a motor vehicle crash involving serious injuries that occurred yesterday in Huntington Station.

Frerlin Sarceno Gudiel was operating an E-bike northbound on Depot Road when he went through a red light at the intersection of Pulaski Road and crashed broadside into a westbound 2019 Subaru SUV at approximately 6:30 p.m. 

The driver of the Subaru, an 81-year-old woman whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Sarceno Gudiel was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

Second Squad detectives charged Sarceno Gudiel, 24, of 22 East 5th St., Huntington Station, with Driving While Intoxicated: Previous Conviction of Designated Offense Within 10 Years, and Operating a Bicycle with Electronic Assist While Intoxicated. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
