Summer Programs

The Community Outreach Bureau was established May 1, 2005. The purpose of this bureau is to act as a liaison between the Police Department and the public we serve. The Community Outreach Bureau consists of the Police Athletic League (PAL), Crime Stoppers, Recruitment, School Resource Officers and the Public Information section. Below are some of the programs offered by the Department this summer.


SWIM FOR SURVIVAL PROGRAM

CRASH AVOIDANCE COURSE FOR TEEN DRIVERS

The Suffolk County Police Athletic League is offering a crash avoidance course for teen drivers. Course is taught by Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Instructors from the Suffolk County Police Academy and will consist of a short class room lecture followed by a live demonstration on the EVOC track. Topics to be covered include vehicle dynamics, braking, cornering, acceleration and crash avoidance. The goal of this course is to educate teenagers to avoid dangerous driving conditions and to supplement training already learned from D.M.V. and Defensive Driving courses. Teens ages 16 to 18 are eligible to participate in the course. For more information, please click on the below links.
